The freezing rain today has coated everything with a thin layer of silver. I’ve never seen anything like it, and it is enchanting. I had to venture out tonight to try to capture how pretty it is. It is so quiet outside (no one driving on these streets) and all you can hear is the ice cracking in the branches as they sway in the wind. I know all this ice is probably causing a lot of damage, but I can’t help looking outside every few minutes and wishing it would last!

Nicole and Michael’s New Year’s Eve Wedding

Eric and I were so excited to photograph Nicole and Michael’s wedding at the Kelley Farm on New Year’s Eve. What a perfect night for a wedding– everyone is in the mood to celebrate!

True, winter weddings in the Northwest can pose some interesting lighting challenges (namely, the total lack of daylight) but we still saw the possibilities for some very romantic shots. The barn looked beautiful in sparkling winter silver, and the Mountain View Lutheran Church in Edgewood was glowing with candles and Christmas lights. I hope these photos capture what was truly a romantic wedding, and a rockin’ New Year’s Eve party!

The muted colors and soft winter light of the Kelley Farm were a perfect backdrop for Nicole’s “Just the Bride” photo shoot a couple weeks ago. She and her fiance Michael had a beautiful and rollicking New Years Eve wedding at the farm a few days after this shoot. (Post to come on that soon!)

I love these shoots. There is nothing more fun that photographing a beautiful bride on a casual afternoon, without all the stress and scheduling of a wedding day. I try to talk every bride into indulging me! They never regret it if they do!

I’m finally catching up from a busy fall wedding season. Kris and Maria’s wedding day at the Kelley Farm was one of the prettiest I have seen. Their ceremony took place out on the patio overlooking the farm’s fall colors. The guests then headed inside the barn for a cozy, yet exuberant reception.
